As bad as the injuries have been, the LA Clippers should be in a much better place about their season. The depth and coaching were supposed to be taken to another level, pushing the franchise to a spot they have never reached.

Furthermore, the LA Clippers’ season has taken a complete 360 as they are now below .500 with a loss to the Jazz. Despite not having several key players, this game was considered a must-win. The sense of urgency still seems non-existent, and time is not in the team’s favor.

In the games they have played, the superstar duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have been phenomenal. The tricky part is they have rarely been seen on the same court together. In fact, since joining LA, these two have only played in 35% of the Clippers’ total games.

In addition to these injuries, the issues at the backup center and the coaching have completely erupted in what the LA Clippers have been trying to build. Their loss to Utah ultimately put the icing on the cake that a change needs to be made immediately.

The LA Clippers may finish their season at the bottom of the play-in.

Now standing at 23-24, the LA Clippers are the eighth seed and hold one of the most challenging remaining schedules in the league. This adds that there is a possibility that head coach Tyronn Lue and his squad finish at the end of the play-in tournament or even miss the playoffs entirely.

Through their match-up with the Jazz, the LA Clippers may have limited their turnovers to 13, but their efficiencies were horrific. On top of shooting 40.2% from the field and 66.7% from the line, Lue’s defensive game plan was easily breakable. That’s exactly what Utah did, as they had six players score double figures.

Moreover, a 30-point performance from the slashing wing, Norman Powell, was nowhere near enough to keep his team in the fight. As of right now, the point guard play needs to be improved, and the backup center problems keep getting worse. If these mishaps continue, Lue and his squad will quickly find themselves out of the playoff race.

That said, the LA Clippers must secure a win in their next game against the San Antonio Spurs. As Leonard and George should be available, Lue should be able to put this game away sooner than later. If things do not go as planned, the front office must look into making a change within the coaching staff.
