LA’s lone and most prized possession from this year’s draft will be on front street from the very beginning.

Saddled with just the 43rd overall pick, LA stood pat, despite showing interest in making a move up the draft. As the Los Angeles based franchise scoured the landscape, they found Moussa Diabate as the most intriguing prospect. The former Michigan Wolverine, while raw, figures to be more of a project, as opposed to a contributor to LA’s title dreams.

Still, before Diabate begins his daily battles with his newfound teammates, he’ll be ushered into the Summer League spotlight.

During his lone collegiate season, Diabate wasn’t much of a scorer, registering just nine points per game. However, it was the lanky forward’s tenacity on the defensive side of the ball that enticed LA to take a chance on him.

Standing at 6’11”, Diabate dwarfs his Summer League teammates. In turn, he’ll be looked upon as their interior scorer and anchor down low. If Diabate is unable to dominate and assert himself against nightly physical mismatches, the Clippers brass could begin second-guessing their pick.
