Even when the LA Clippers were considered one of the most exciting teams in the entire NBA and bonafide title contenders in the early 2010s, those ball clubs, who were led by Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and Jamal Crawford, struggled with consistency.
At times, LA sauntered onto the court as world beaters. However, on far too many other occasions, they dropped the ball, playing down to their level of opposition before ultimately losing the game. In Leonard’s first year with LA, he did his best to erase that very aurora. And, during the early goings of his arrival, he sent out a deadly statement to the rest of the league.
Seemingly on their way to another pathetic season, the Cleveland Cavaliers walked into the Los Angeles Clippers backyard on January 14th, 2020. Sensing that Cleveland didn’t belong, Leonard would go on to torch every defender that was placed in front of him.
Leonard finished the night with 43 on 63% from the field and 60% from distance. With each made basket, Leonard drove Cleveland deeper and deeper into the dirt, as the Clippers rolled to a 25-point victory.
