Everything appeared to be working in the Clippers’ favor. After deciding against making any draft day moves, the franchise opted to play it safe. As their name was finally called with the 43rd overall pick, Izaiah Brockington was ready for the taking.

It was all falling into place. Just a few weeks prior, LA, along with several other teams, were reportedly interested in drafting the former Iowa State point guard. Yet, even with Brockington still sitting on the board, the Clippers opted against selecting. Instead, they made the bemusing decision to take Moussa Diabate.

Despite their selection, Brockington is still out on the open market, something that the Clippers should look to change quickly. During his time in Iowa, Brockington was terrific, averaging 16.8 points and 6.8 boards a night.

Very much a score-first point guard, LA is devoid of any true ball handlers behind Reggie Jackson, their current point guard. Brockington is a big physical guard who isn’t unnerved when the lights shine at their brightest. It was a miracle that no one drafted Brockington in the second round, he won’t be available for long though, so LA should make their move.
