Undrafted free agents the Clippers should grab
Kofi Cockburn
2021 College stats: 20.9 ppg, 10.6 rpg
The 2021-22 NBA season figures to be a successful one for the LA Clippers. Kawhi Leonard should be ready to go from the start of training camp as he bounces back from a torn ACL. Paul George should find his shooting stroke as he nursed a damaged right elbow for most of the year, and the rest of their ancillary pieces should come together nicely. Still, even with their star-studded lineup, LA has a sizable hole in the middle.
Last season, LA struggled to keep bigger and more physically imposing teams off the glass, averaging just 44 boards a night, good for 19th in the league. While Ivica Zubac is their only big body on the roster, the addition of Kofi Cockburn could serve as a panacea to their inside woes.
Due to his primitive game, the hulking center out of Illinois went undrafted. Despite his offensive limitations, Cockburn was a proficient rebounder, grabbing 10.6 boards a night. Cockburn was also a terrific inside threat, scoring 20.9 points per game.
With Cockburn’s size and strength down low, standing at 7’0” and weighing 285 pounds, opposing teams won’t be able to push the Clippers around in the rebounding department.
