Efficiency wasn’t always George’s best attribute during his college days. Often viewed as Fresno State’s best offensive weapon, George consistently fought through double-teams and seldom received a clean look at the rim.
Boise State, a sound defensive team that smothered their opposition for much of the 2008-09 season, attempted to play George straight up, something he took umbrage to. George pounded Boise on the offensive side of the ball. The smooth eventual NBA All-Star finished the game with 29 points. Boise’s flippant defenders were manhandled by George as he would miss only two shots on the night.
His scoring exploits may have been the highlight of the game, but George was impossible to score against. He finished the game with 10 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.
The game was close, much closer than oddsmakers wanted. Nevertheless, Fresno ultimately came up short in front of their home fans, losing by six points.
