2. Carmelo Anthony
2021-22 season stats: 13.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 37.5 3p%
The Hall of Fame bound career of Carmelo Anthony appeared to be dead and gone following the 2018-19 season. Anthony was a forgotten player, tossed aside by the Houston Rockets after only 10 games. He remained there for the remainder of the year.
With seemingly every NBA team showing no interest, Melo began reviving his career in Portland, averaging 14.3 points per game. In his first and seemingly only year as a Laker, Melo was terrific at providing a bit of offensive punch off an anemic Laker bench.
Already in possession of the league’s second highest scoring bench last season, adding Melo into the mix would push the Clippers to another level. At this stage in his career, Melo is well aware of who he is as a player. No longer is he starting caliber with All-Star credentials. However, Melo is a double-digit scorer who still has the ability to explode for 25-plus points on any night.
Melo would be more of a luxury for a Clippers team that checks all of the boxes on the offensive end. But there’s nothing wrong with having a bit of frosting on a stacked cake.
