Paul George and the LA Clippers had their back against the wall during the 2021 Western Conference Finals. Staring at a 3-1 series deficit against the Phoenix Suns and facing a Game 5 on the road, the chances of LA leaving Phoenix with a victory was slim to none.
George, of course, was the focal point of the offense with no Kawhi Leonard to back him up. Losing the very next game was both expected and understandable. The Clippers were a hobbled bunch while Phoenix was arguably the best team in the league.
While George could’ve folded, he instead had the best game of his playoff career while donning a Clipper uniform. George torched every defender that was put in front of him, going for 41 points on 75% shooting from the field. For the entirety of the game, George missed only five shots, hit half of his 3-point attempts, and was perfect from the free throw line.
Although he had it going, George was far from selfish, dishing out six assists. Also, without a true big man out there, George led the Clippers in rebounding, grabbing 13 on the night. Most importantly, the Clippers would go on to extend their season by picking up a 14-point win.
