The LA Clippers brass will be forced to wait, wait, wait, and wait some more when the 2022 NBA Draft comes rolling around.

With LA devoid of any picks in the opening round, however, that hasn’t stopped front office personnel from doing their due diligence. Just a few short days ago, after the official draft order was revealed, the NBA Draft Combine took place.

As highly sought-after players were tested, measured, and brought through the wringer – Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, as well as current consultant Jerry West, was seen sitting in the stands taking in the sights.

In addition to getting a first-hand look at who could possibly be on the board when the Clippers are on the clock with the 43rd overall pick, it appears as though LA already has an eye on a particular draft prospect in particular.

LA could have a player in mind

As first reported by Lakersdaily.com, Izaiah Brockington has emerged as one of the more intriguing names linked to the Clippers. The 6’4” guard out of Iowa State wrapped up his final season on the collegiate level by averaging 16.8 points and 6.8 rebounds a night. His passing ability, or lack thereof, was the one glaring hole in Brockington’s game, averaging just 1.6 dimes a night.

Regardless of his inability to create for others, Brockington could provide LA with a much-needed boost from the backup point guard position. Currently, LA’s Reggie Jackson remains their only point guard on the roster with any experience at a high level.

While it’s yet to be seen who LA will pluck with their second-round selection, their incoming rookie figures to play an inconsequential role on an already stacked roster. With players such as Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Norman Powell, Luke Kennard, and the aforementioned Jackson – the Clippers are amongst a handful of teams with championship aspirations next season.

Nevertheless, it appears as though LA will continue to watch tirelessly over the draft combine and sift through countless hours of game tape, in the hopes of landing a hidden gem.
