1. Chris Paul
Clipper stats: 18.8 ppg, 9.8 apg, 2.2 spg
This one was obvious, wasn’t it? For six seasons, Chris Paul singlehandedly lifted LA’s moribund franchise into championship contention. Don’t believe us? Just remember, before Paul made his way to LA, the Clippers already housed future All-Stars Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan on their roster. Paul was the biggest addition and difference maker when he arrived during the 2011-12 season.
In six seasons, Paul was selected to five consecutive All-Star Games and was viewed by many as the league’s best point guard. Making the postseason became a virtual lock as Paul pushed the ball effortlessly down the court before throwing no-look passes to his bevy of shooters and big men.
The end result, however, was a bit of a disappointing one as the Clippers failed to make it out of the second round. Still, their postseason shortcomings shouldn’t be placed at the feet of Paul. In 53 playoff games with the Clippers, Paul averaged 21.2 points, 8.7 assists, and 2.3 steals a night.
His tenure in LA didn’t end with a Larry O’Brien trophy but Paul is undoubtedly the greatest point guard to ever don a Clipper uniform.
