In about two more years, we have a feeling that Anthony Edwards will usurp Karl Anthony Towns as the Minnesota Timberwolves’ go-to guy. For now, he falls into the number two spot in the pecking order.

Edwards is as smooth as butter on the court. Although he isn’t even capable of buying an alcoholic beverage at the bar as he’s yet to turn 21 yet, Edwards is well qualified to destroy defenders on the court. Dropping over 20 points per game during the regular season is one thing, but to do it underneath the pressure of the playoff spotlight is another thing entirely.

With 36 points in Game 2 against the Memphis Grizzlies, Edwards joined Derrick Rose, Tyler Herro, and Magic Johnson – as the only players to put up at least 35 in a postseason game before turning 21.

Unlike Towns, who can fade into the background at times, Edwards is boisterous when attacking the basket and always believes he’s the best player on the court. Towns, for all of his talent, isn’t as assertive as he should be. Edwards isn’t quite the best sidekick in the Western Conference just yet but he’s well on his way.
