The LA Clippers started Game 1 of this season by letting Warriors’ superstar Point Guard, Steph Curry, ball out of control.

He had a perfect first quarter, scoring 25 points on a perfect nine of nine shooting, and five of five from behind the arc.

These things tend to happen when playing against the Warriors’ historic starting backcourt:

It even drew a reaction from former Clipper point guard Patrick Beverley on Twitter, as he watched Curry absolutely torch our guards.

Patrick Beverley appears to think he would not have allowed Curry to have the crazy start he did vs. the LA Clippers.

In his defense, Patrick Beverley had a tendency to contain Steph Curry last year for the LA Clippers:

Beverley was traded from the LA Clippers during the offseason in a trade that also sent Rajon Rondo and Daniel Oturu away, and brought Eric Bledsoe back to LA.

Beverley’s trademarked full-court defense and relentless ball pressure was not only effective in slowing down Curry, but also turned him into a three-time All-Defensive selection who’s always mentioned as one of the better defensive point guards in basketball.

Beverley’s earned his strong defensive reputation, and many agreed with him.

There’s no need to overreact to one game, but many fans grew very fond of Pat Bev when he was in LA. He was a true culture creator for this franchise, and was always a pest to Curry or whichever point guard he picked up.

In the Clippers’ defense, Bledsoe has at least been great offensively tonight, scoring 20 points on nine of 13 shooting with under eight minutes left. The Clippers are currently up four.

Update added at 9:48 PM PT: The game is over, and the LA Clippers end up losing 113-115.
