No. 1 tough contract decision the LA Clippers must make next offseason: Picking up Ivica Zubac’s option or not

Ivica Zubac is going to make a bit over $7.5 million this year, and then is going to make the same amount next year if the LA Clippers choose to pick up their club option on him.

This decision is completely in the Clippers’ hands. This season is going to be huge for Zubac if he wants to remain a Clipper.

What Zubac needs to do is to do what he does best, and that is rebound. He averaged 7.2 rebounds per game last year, which led the team. The Clippers were in the bottom half of the league as a team last season in rebounds per game, so they’ll be sure to pick up the option if he continues to be the best rebounder on the team.

Zubac is likely going to be the starting center this season, regardless of Ibaka’s health. He has a massive opportunity to prove himself to Clippers’ management, and can make this decision a lot easier for the Clippers.

Hopefully, the team can keep all three guys and continue building championship-caliber squads every year.
