LA Clippers: Luke Kennard celebrating teammates drilling shots is joyous
By Josh Paredes
While the LA Clippers recently lost a legendary hype man in Patrick Beverley, it’s nice to know they have another one to spare. Of course, no one will ever match the intensity and energy level of Beverley, but there are still plenty of guys we can count on to cheer loudly for each other all season.
Recently, an entertaining video of Luke Kennard doing just that during a Clippers shootaround made the rounds on Twitter, and it’s a joy to watch.
Beginning with an air guitar windmill and closing with fiery hands, Kennard was clearly impressed by whichever teammate was nailing threes. “Luke is in midseason form with the celebrations,” commented one Twitter user.
Of course, it’s no surprise Kennard is excited about his teammates making triples. He’s been doing it his whole basketball career and was second to only Marcus Morris in 3-point percentage on the team last season (44.6). Last season was the most accurate he’s been from beyond the arc in four seasons.
While he started off the preseason making just one of his first nine shots from deep, he made nine of his last 15 threes in the last two games to end the warmup games on a high note. His outside shooting will be needed as much as ever as the Clippers look to navigate most or all of their season without Kawhi Leonard.
Still, nine different players shot above 40% from behind the line last season, so there will be plenty of marksmanship to admire.
Considering the LA Clippers were first in the league in 3-point percentage last season at 41.1, he might need to get some extra stretches in to keep his celebrating up to standard.
