LA Clippers player Aaron Donald reminds me of: Serge Ibaka

When Aaron Donald came out for the draft, he was ruled ‘undersized.’ It wasn’t often that 284-lb defensive tackles flourished in the NFL.

Donald became the best defensive player in football, and probably the best defensive lineman to ever play, however. He changed the game. He came out a bit undersized, but he always played way bigger.

It’s similar to how Serge Ibaka is only 6’10,” but he plays basketball like he’s a seven footer. He has ridiculous length that makes up for him not having those couple extra inches in height.

He’s been so effective in that style of play that he’s a two-time block champion, and has averaged two per game over the course of his 12-year NBA career.

Like Donald, he can anchor the defense of his team with toughness, but also has a lot of athleticism that makes him more versatile as a player.

Ibaka may be a 6’10” center, but he can also stretch the floor through his quickness and athleticism. It’s gotten him so many good looks to shoot from behind the three-point line. A career 35.9% three-point shooter, Ibaka can do it all.

The Rams are one of the favorites to win the NFC, just as I have the Clippers to be one of the favorites to win their conference. It’s going to be a great season for Rams football, and I know it’ll be a great season for Clippers basketball too.
