John Wall and the Houston Rockets have reportedly made the decision to work together to find Wall a new home.

Unsurprisingly, the LA Clippers are now being discussed as one of the teams that could be in contention for the five-time All-Star.

The Clippers already traded for a new point guard this offseason in Eric Bledsoe to go along with Reggie Jackson, but it’s worth taking a look at why or why not the Clips should maybe go after the former All-NBA point guard.

No. 2 disadvantage for the LA Clippers to trade for John Wall: Money

If the LA Clippers want to trade for John Wall, they are going to have to give up a lot of money.

Sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic that there aren’t any buyout plans on the rest of his deal. That means that if the Clippers want to trade for Wall, they’d have to spend every penny of the $91.7 million that’s owed to him for the two years left.

He has a $47.4 million option for that second year. The Clippers would have to be willing to be ready to pay that if they brought him over. The team already doesn’t have a ton of money right now, and as a result, missed out on some free agents this offseason.

This would be a poor move for the Clippers financially.
