DeAndre Jordan is back in LA, but this time not with the LA Clippers.
Jordan is a Los Angeles Laker these days, and actually brought up his time with the Clippers in his introductory press conference for his new team.
Jordan, the all-time Clipper leader in games played (750), field goal percentage (.673), and rebounds (7,988), spoke glowingly of his time in LA.
More importantly, DeAndre Jordan spoke just as highly about the LA Clippers organization.
A former second-round pick for the LA Clippers, DeAndre Jordan seems like he wouldn’t have rather been welcomed to the league any other way.
“I think I was treated pretty fairly and pretty good when I was a Clipper for 10 years,” said Jordan. “I had great years when I was with the Clippers. That franchise was amazing to me and I appreciate the time that I was there, for sure.”
The Texas A&M product was drafted in 2008, and was a rebound champ in back-to-back years with the Clips (2013-2014 and 2014-2015). In the 2014-2015 season, he was named first-team All-Defense, and he repeated in the next year.
He was an All-NBA player from the 2014-15 season up through the 2016-2017 season. In the 2015-2016 year, he was a first-team selection. Jordan was one of the most dominant forces of the Lob City Clipper days.
During those All-NBA years, he shot over 70% in each season (70.9% altogether).
He earned himself a spot on the All-Star team in the 2016-2017 season, and went for at least 15 rebounds per game multiple times for LA.
I’m sure Jordan did love his tenure with the Clippers. We got the best basketball that Jordan has ever played, and it’s nice to know that he still has a lot of love and respect for the franchise. It’ll be tough to watch him play for another contending team in the Western Conference, but the memories of Jordan helping put our team on the map back during the Lob City days will always be there.
