The LA Clippers have a decision to make when it comes to who they want to start at center this season.
The Clips can either continue starting Ivica Zubac, or they could go back to starting Serge Ibaka like they did in the beginning of the season.
Both options are solid, and Zubac can really be a game-changer at 7 feet tall. The center has started 128 out of the 170 games he’s played in a Clipper uniform, and keeping that up is going to be a major step in his playing career:
No. 3 goal for Ivica Zubac in the 2021-2022 season for the LA Clippers: Start all year
Ivica Zubac finished last season as the starter for the LA Clippers, even when Ibaka came back. He was the better rebounder, and Ibaka didn’t live up to what he could’ve been last season.
I still like Ibaka a lot, and he was solid. He didn’t really separate himself from Zubac, however. Zubac needs to keep that play going.
He was a bit of an iron man this past season, playing in all 72 games. Zubac needs to take advantage whenever he’s healthy, because he’s had much better availability recently than many other players on this team.
There’s only two centers currently on that roster. Sure, they may re-sign DeMarcus Cousins, or maybe even go after somebody else. Regardless, however, they aren’t going to have a lot of options at center. This is Zubac’s chance to play the most he’s ever played in his career.
More minutes just means more opportunities to progress as a player. Zubac not only needs to start, but he needs to maintain his spot as the starter if he wants to have the biggest possible impact.
