No. 2 way for the LA Clippers to unlock Keon Johnson’s potential next season: Let him shoot in garbage time

The LA Clippers need to get Keon Johnson some garbage time opportunities.

If we’re blowing somebody out, we need Johnson in there so he can work on his three-point shot. He shot 27.1% at Tennessee from behind the arc, and that needs to be better if he wants to play for a three-point shooting team like the Clippers.

It may not be best to experiment in high-pressure moments of great importance very often. He’ll need to shoot when he’s open, but the chance to really work on his stroke will be in garbage time.

He certainly can develop his three-point shot. DeMar DeRozan did after he came out struggling with it, and the same thing with P.J. Tucker. Defense will keep him an important piece on this team, just like DeRozan and Tucker. If he can develop that jumper, he’s going to be massive for this franchise.
