No. 1 goal for Eric Bledsoe’s 2021-22 season with the LA Clippers: Shoot 40% from three
I get that expecting Eric Bledsoe to shoot 40% or higher from deep for the LA Clippers may seem a little too high. But the reality is that everyone needs to have high expectations behind the arc if they want to play and be productive on the Clippers.
This is a three-point shooting team. The last time he played for the Clippers, he shot 39.7% from deep, so he needs to have those same expectations coming into this year, and even a bit better.
40% needs to be the rate. He won’t be taking as many tough shots as he typically does, as he won’t be asked to create off of the wing as much. He’ll be back in more of a true point guard role, and won’t be taking a ton of contested jumpers.
He needs to hit the threes that he takes, though. Pat Bev did. He shot almost 40% at 39.7%.
Bledsoe needs to be a better shooter than Bev, and get into that 40% range.
I hope these goals aren’t unreasonable for Bledsoe. I truly believe that he can hit all three of these, and that the Clippers will be on their way to a Western Conference Championship win if he can get this done in his backup role.
