No. 2 goal for Eric Bledsoe’s 2021-22 season with the LA Clippers: Record 120 steals
If Eric Bledsoe wants to be effective on defense with the LA Clippers, he needs to get back to stealing possessions away regularly. He used to do it all the time. Up through his time in Milwaukee, he averaged 1.4 steals per game.
He even averaged 1.2 steals per game in his three seasons with the Clippers despite playing under 20 minutes per game. Last year, however, Bledsoe only came up with 0.8 assists per contest.
He didn’t find himself making an All-Defensive team for the first time in three seasons. One way to go and get that recognition again is to get that steal count up.
Again, this is the same guy who recorded 1.2 per game in a bench role with the Clippers before. He can still play defense at a high level in a bench role for the Clippers now.
Bledsoe needs to stay healthy this year (which he overall has been for five straight years now), and he needs to record about a steal and a half per contest. He’s done it before, and he can do it again.
