No. 1 free agent fans should be relieved the LA Clippers didn’t chase: Spencer Dinwiddie

The LA Clippers really lucked out to be with Jackson over Spencer Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie signed a three-year deal worth $54 million this offseason to go to Washington. They can have him.

Dinwiddie has a ridiculous amount of talent, but Jackson is the better fit for this team. The Clippers love shooters, and Dinwiddie doesn’t have the shooter’s resume they should be looking for.

The last time he played a full year, he was a 30.8% three-point shooter. Jackson was a 43.3% three-point shooter this year. Dinwiddie also has little playoff experience, and hasn’t ever started a single postseason contest.

There’s a reason Jackson started over Dinwiddie when they played with each other for two years in Detroit.

If the Clippers could retain Jackson, which they did, then there’s no point in signing Dinwiddie.
