No. 1 disadvantage for the LA Clippers to trade for Ben Simmons: The package to acquire him

The Sixers apparently want at least four first rounders for Ben Simmons, and the LA Clippers don’t have any tradeable first round picks until 2028.

Therefore, it appears that they’d have to resort to trading many role players if they want to make a deal for Simmons.

Well, four first round picks is a lot, so what would be the equivalent? We don’t exactly know, but it would also be ‘a lot.’

The guys that have been speculated to be on the block are Luke Kennard (and his contract), Marcus Morris Sr., Patrick Beverley, Ivica Zubac, Terance Mann, and Rajon Rondo.

What if a deal takes all six, or close to? Do we really want to give up all that for a guy who can’t shoot? Maybe if we weren’t such a shooter-driven team, but I don’t know that the fit is good enough for us to dump all our depth for Simmons.

Next. DeMar DeRozan will regret his decision. dark

As with all trades, the decision comes to down to what the deal would be. I’m not sold that the potential deal with the Clippers would be in their best interest.
