No. 2 reason Serge Ibaka made the right decision by opting in with the LA Clippers: He’ll contend for a title

Again, Serge Ibaka is lucky to have the chance to play for the LA Clippers right now.

Oftentimes teams are skeptical to sign older big men to bigger deals, and Ibaka is 31.

So it could have been tough for him to find a championship caliber team to play for. Luckily, the Clippers are just that with Ibaka back in the mix.

Even without Ibaka, the Clips obviously made it to the Western Conference Finals. They had to go small throughout almost the entire playoffs because they missed Ibaka’s defensive presence at the rim.

Imagine how good the team will be next year when Ibaka will be around and they can play their game.

And maybe they do want to go with smaller lineups more consistently, but they’re going to run into teams like the Mavericks who are going to try to force them to play big (just like the Mavs did in the playoffs this year). Now that the Clips have Ibaka back at their disposal, there will be very few weaknesses for other teams to try to exploit.

The Clips have a good shot at winning the title with Ibaka.
