Updated LA Clippers Depth Chart after 2021 NBA Draft: Wings

The updated LA Clippers depth chart at the shooting guard/small forward positions is looking like this:

  1. Kawhi Leonard (Starter)
  2. Paul George (Starter)
  3. Terance Mann
  4. Keon Johnson
  5. Luke Kennard
  6. Brandon Boston Jr.
  7. Jay Scrubb

Keon Johnson will of course be higher on the depth chart than Scrubb. I also have him higher than Kennard, despite Kennard’s lucrative contract.

Kennard is a much better shooter than Johnson. Kennard was a top nine three-point shooter this year in terms of percentage at 44.6%. Johnson unfortunately only shot 27.1% from three.

That being said, remember when we kept Kennard in for offense in the Western Conference Semis, and then he kept getting cooked on D by Donovan Mitchell?

Johnson won’t be getting cooked by anybody. He’s so quick and can guard multiple positions. His aggression and ball pressure is going to intimidate opposing players even when Johnson’s a rookie.

I do put Kennard over Boston, however, as Boston had a down year at Kentucky last year. With him, he’s going to have to prove he can score the way he did at Sierra Canyon.

Kennard has already proven he can shoot at a big-time level. I have Boston over Scrubb, however, due to the massive talent gap between the two.

Nicolas Batum, Jackson, and Amir Coffee are all unrestricted free agents right now, so they aren’t included on this list.
