No. 2 free agent for the LA Clippers to sign away from another contender: Markieff Morris
It wasn’t even that long ago when Markieff Morris was being discussed as a future Clipper. It was just last offseason.
Morris has always played well with his brother on the Clippers, Marcus Morris Sr. Markieff had perhaps the best year of his career in 2014-2015 with the Suns. He was playing with his brother at that time, and wasn’t happy when he and his brother had to split up.
Markieff went to Clipper games when his current team, the Los Angeles Lakers, were knocked out of the postseason early. He even wore a Marcus Morris Clippers jersey while sitting courtside.
Marcus played better when Markieff was in attendance, just as they played better with each other when they were in Phoenix. Markieff is a versatile power forward who’s athletic enough to play the three as well, and has always played solid defense.
He has a career stat line of 11 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game, with a 44.6 FG % and a 34.1% three-point percentage. He’s valuable to the Lakers, and I’d love for the Clippers to improve their team by signing him, and rid the Lakers of a valuable depth piece at the same time.
