The LA Clippers aren’t the richest team out there this offseason, but there’s still work they can get done in free agency.

They’re a contending team, and can catch somebody who wants to take less to win. The issue is, other contenders hope to do the same; regardless of their money situation.

In order to combat this, they can go and raid the other contenders for the free agents that they intended to keep. This offseason won’t be easy, but the Clippers can make it not so easy on some other championship favorites for the 2021-2022 season as well.

No. 3 free agent for the LA Clippers to sign away from another contender: Cameron Payne

LA Clippers fans unfortunately know what Cameron Payne is capable of. Payne put it on display against the Clippers in the Western Conference Finals, especially in Game 2.

He scored 29 points and dished out nine assists in that game. He was 12 of 24, and also blocked two shots and recorded two steals.

Payne was a big part of the Suns’ Western Conference-winning run all year, being more than serviceable as a backup point guard to Clipper legend Chris Paul.

The Suns are going to want him back, but the Clips can absolutely afford him. He only made $1,977,011 this year, and likely won’t be much more expensive.
