No. 2 reason the LA Clippers should re-sign DeMarcus Cousins: His ability to draw double-teams

If the LA Clippers can sign DeMarcus Cousins to that veteran minimum deal, they won’t regret it.

Around the beginning of Cousins’ tenure with the Clippers, he made a joke about being the only third-string, 10-day contract big in the league who gets double-teamed.

It was mostly funny because it was true. In fact, Paul George even talked about how crucial Boogie getting double-teamed was for the Clips in the playoffs. He freed up so many great opportunities for other Clippers, and he’s always been one of the best passing centers in the league.

The four-time All-Star is still a player opposing teams clearly respect. It makes sense, as he’s shot the best he’s ever shot in his time with the Clips this season (53.7%), and also recorded his best three-point percentage ever in his time with the Clips (42.1%).

Having a center who can stretch the floor like that is crucial, as not only does he draw extra defenders, but he can keep defenses honest with his three-point stroke.

His complete skillset keeps defenses in check, and that will absolutely continue to help the Clippers if he’s back again next year.
