No. 2 trade chip for the LA Clippers: Marcus Morris Sr.

Marcus Morris Sr. provides so much as a basketball player, and it’s been crucial to his career.

It’s also why, however, he’s bounced around the league. In ten years, he’s played for six teams.

It always seems to feel like Morris is a built-in trade chip. Somebody’s always going to want a versatile 6’8″ ‘tough guy’ who can play lockdown defense and shoot at a high level.

Morris was important for the Clippers, and we felt that especially in the beginning of the Western Conference Finals when he was playing hurt.

That being said, he struggled with his durability this year, both in the regular season and the playoffs. While I’d love for him to remain a Clipper, I could easily see a trade partner potentially willing to ‘overpay’ us in trade value for Morris.

Morris is the type of player a team who has aspirations of competing next year would be interested in. Defensively, he can take on a lot of different assignments.

Assigning the right players to the right matchup in the postseason is always tough for a coach.

Morris makes those decisions easier.
