No. 2 reason why DeMar DeRozan is a perfect fit with the LA Clippers: His versatility
DeMar DeRozan works with the LA Clippers for one of the same reasons he would work with every team. That’s his versatility.
DeRozan came into this league as a shooting guard, and played the two-guard for the first ten years of his career. In his second year in San Antonio, he started playing a lot more from the number three position, and then developed into a player who can play as a power forward as well.
That means that DeRozan fits this team unbelievably well. We played a lot of small ball this postseason. If we continue to next year for whatever reason, DeRozan is a perfect option to put at the four.
He can do everything a shooting guard or small forward can do while being able to hold it down as a power forward.
I don’t think power forward is the two-time All-NBA selection’s best position, but playing the four in a Clippers’ small ball lineup would be very effective.
DeRozan has a wide skillset that can fit with many different lineup combos, which is an important asset for somebody going to a team like the Clips, who have lots of injury history.
