With the recent news regarding Kawhi Leonard’s injury, the LA Clippers superstar’s future is a bit up in the air.

The Clippers plans for Leonard, however, really shouldn’t be up in the air.

They have to still pursue him the same way if he opts out of his contract. I don’t know what other choice they have.

No. 3 reason the LA Clippers should still pay Kawhi Leonard if he opts out: There’s no need to panic yet

When the LA Clippers announced that Kawhi Leonard had undergone surgery for a partially torn ACL, many of us were worried.

That’s understandable, of course. Many ACL tears have led to 9-12 month recoveries.

However, there’s a reason the Clippers didn’t release a timetable on his injury. They literally don’t know.

It’s a partial tear. We don’t really know if he’s going to take the 9-12 months that we’ve seen from many professional athletes with ACL tears.

They potentially could be evaluating whether it’s not a deep enough tear to the point where he’d miss time like that.

Do we even know that Leonard will miss next year? Or that he’ll miss a high majority of the regular season? No and no, as there’s a reason the Clips haven’t released a timeline for his recovery.

It’s natural to be concerned for Leonard, but we simply don’t know how serious this truly is. Let’s not change our approach due to information we do not even know, and that may not even be as bad as we fear.
