No. 2 best new home for Kawhi Leonard if he leaves the LA Clippers this offseason: The Golden State Warriors

If Kawhi Leonard doesn’t stay with the LA Clippers this offseason, the best basketball fit of the other teams interested would be with the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors won’t be able to keep their team together and then add Kawhi. They won’t have the money.

They’ll have to find a way to get rid of the $30 million they owe Andrew Wiggins, and they’d have to also trade a bare minimum of James Wiseman.

Let’s face it, it’ll likely have to be Draymond Green or Klay Thompson, though. They’ll need to clear more than what they clear with trading Wiseman.

When they do, a trio of Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard, and Draymond Green/Klay Thompson would surely have the Clippers as one of the favorites to win it all in the 2021-2022 season.

Remember, it’s possible Leonard won’t play much or at all next year due to his partially torn ACL.

If he can go, however, the Warriors would be filthy if they could bring him in. Paying for him would be incredibly difficult.

If Kawhi really doesn’t want to play for the Clippers next year for some reason, though, he may be interested in taking less money to play with a team as talented as that.
