The LA Clippers were set to have a somewhat straightforward offseason this summer.

Now with the Kawhi Leonard injury news, the future is a little more rocky than what it originally was.

Regardless of what happens with Kawhi, the Clippers were going to need to upgrade this offseason to sure up our title hopes. There are many potential free agent options we can explore. Some would be very smart signings, while some aren’t so much.

Pass or pursue Lonzo Ball this offseason for the LA Clippers: Pursue

Lonzo Ball is going to be a restricted free agent this summer.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium has the Clippers as an interested team, and I like the idea.

If the Clippers can’t bring back Reggie Jackson, they’re going to want another point guard who can shoot.

While the scouting reports on Ball coming out of UCLA claimed he couldn’t shoot, he absolutely can. He’s shot 37.6% from deep in these last two seasons, fitting in perfectly with the NBA’s best three-point shooting team in the Clippers.

Lonzo is also very well-rounded, as he shoots at a high level while also averaging 5.8 rebounds per game in his career, 6.4 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game.

Ball improved his free throw shooting dramatically, shooting 78.1% from the line this year after shooting just 48.7% from the line in his first three years.

His shooting fits in well, he’s well-rounded, he’s coachable, and he’s excelled in LA before at both the college and professional level. Pursue Zo this offseason.
