Clippers rumors: 2 reasons to sign Lonzo Ball and 1 reason not to

The LA Clippers are now rumored to be intrigued by Lonzo Ball this offseason.

There are certainly scenarios where this makes sense. Reggie Jackson is going to cost a lot of money this offseason, and the Clippers may not be able to bring him back for next year.

If that’s the case, the Clips will have a need at point guard. Ball may not be the best option for the Clips, but he also could be a solid fit for a couple of reasons.

1 reason for the LA Clippers to sign Lonzo Ball: He’s a sharpshooter these days

Remember when people used to clown Lonzo Ball for being a ‘terrible shooter’ when he came into the league?

Yeah, those takes aged terribly.

Lonzo came into the league shooting 30.5% from three, which isn’t that good, but I’ve seen a lot worse. All he needed to do was gradually improve over the course of his career, and he sure has.

He shot 32.9% from three in his second year, and then shot up to a great 37.5% in his third year. This year, he shot 37.8% from three-point land.

If the Clips lose Jackson, they’ll need to fill that loss with another good shooter.

Lonzo fits the bill, and would 100% be a good fit from a shooting standpoint for the best shooting team in basketball.

He came into the league shooting 43.7% from the free-throw line, but shot 78.1% from the foul line this year. His improvement has been so much fun to watch, and needs to be on the Clippers’ radar.
