The LA Clippers are now rumored to be intrigued by Lonzo Ball this offseason.

There are certainly scenarios where this makes sense. Reggie Jackson is going to cost a lot of money this offseason, and the Clippers may not be able to bring him back for next year.

If that’s the case, the Clips will have a need at point guard. Ball may not be the best option for the Clips, but he also could be a solid fit for a couple of reasons.

1 reason for the LA Clippers to sign Lonzo Ball: He’s a sharpshooter these days

Remember when people used to clown Lonzo Ball for being a ‘terrible shooter’ when he came into the league?

Yeah, those takes aged terribly.

Lonzo came into the league shooting 30.5% from three, which isn’t that good, but I’ve seen a lot worse. All he needed to do was gradually improve over the course of his career, and he sure has.

He shot 32.9% from three in his second year, and then shot up to a great 37.5% in his third year. This year, he shot 37.8% from three-point land.

If the Clips lose Jackson, they’ll need to fill that loss with another good shooter.

Lonzo fits the bill, and would 100% be a good fit from a shooting standpoint for the best shooting team in basketball.

He came into the league shooting 43.7% from the free-throw line, but shot 78.1% from the foul line this year. His improvement has been so much fun to watch, and needs to be on the Clippers’ radar.
