There are two teams reportedly pushing ‘hard’ to sign Kawhi Leonard should he turn down his player option with the LA Clippers.

If he picks it up, he’ll be set to make just over $36 million next year. He can most likely make more than that, with the Clippers or with somebody else.

There’s a good chance he’ll turn down that option quickly so he can truly test the market. That’s what I would do. What’s the worst thing can happen for Kawhi?

We do know the worst thing that could happen for the Clippers, however, and that’s Kawhi taking off. I wouldn’t worry about it, though. Kawhi will not be leaving.

No. 1 reason LA Clippers fans shouldn’t panic about Kawhi Leonard free agency: He’s right where he wants to be

Kawhi Leonard wanted to play at home, and that’s obviously what he gets if he stays with the LA Clippers.

The two teams rumored to make that ‘hard push’ for Kawhi are the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat. Well, neither of those two teams are in LA. Neither are the New York Knicks, or the Golden State Warriors, or any of the teams that have been rumored to make a move for the superstar.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN also feels like Leonard and Clipper Head Coach Ty Lue have a good relationship. I can imagine why, as Lue is absolutely a top-tier coach in this league. This is the team Kawhi picked, and there’s no glaring issue that we have to make him want to go away.
