No. 2 reason why Kawhi Leonard shouldn’t sign with the Miami Heat: They have regressed since the deadline

The speculation for Kawhi Leonard to head to Miami began at around the trade deadline. The Heat were playing good basketball then, and starting to pull things together. Keep in mind, the Heat looked like they could even potentially miss the playoffs at certain points in the season before the deadline.

They were really piecing it together at the deadline but ended up really faltering. They were just the sixth seed in the weak Eastern Conference. The Clippers had arguably the most/most impactful injuries in the entire NBA and still finished in the top four of the brutal Western Conference.

The Heat lost in the first round of the NBA Postseason to the Milwaukee Bucks in just four games, which has led to speculation that their success in the NBA 2020 bubble was fraudulent.

Regardless of if it was or wasn’t, the Heat regressed this year. They’re not the type of team that the LA Clippers are.

They are a much better franchise historically, but what matters most is where the teams are at right now. The Clippers, even if they lose this series, were much better than the Heat this year. Why should Kawhi downgrade?
