No. 2 reason the LA Clippers need to re-sign Serge Ibaka: He’s still an elite shock-blocker

Serge Ibaka has averaged two blocks per game in his career. He only averaged 1.1 per game this year, but his whole season didn’t go as planned due to the injuries, and he only averaged 23.3 minutes per game. He’s still a good shot-blocker.

In the two playoff games that Ibaka played in, he blocked three shots in just over 18 total minutes of play. If he gets his minutes, he’s going to be very effective as a shot-blocker.

In his playoff career, he’s also averaged two blocks per game. He didn’t even start in the 2019 NBA Finals, yet still averaged 1.7 blocks per game in just 19.3 minutes per game.

He’s had five blocks in a playoff game eight times, six blocks in a playoff game three times, seven blocks in a playoff game twice, and he’s even had nine blocks in a postseason game before.

That’s a player you want on your team, and it absolutely will be a big deal if he sticks around for the Clips next year.

The Clippers blocked just 4.1 shots per game this season. That’s tied for 28th in the league out of the 30 teams. They missed Ibaka this year, and need him back.
