#3 reason the Clippers should re-sign Nic Batum: He can still shoot the lights out
Batum’s always had a reputation for being a sharpshooter in this league. A lifetime 36% three-point shooter, Batum actually even shot his second-highest three-point percentage of his career this year (40.4%).
He also shot his second-highest field goal percentage of his career, shooting 46.4% from the field this year.
He still hit his free throws, shooting 82.8% from the line, and he’s been automatic from there throughout his entire career.
His 61.7% true shooting % was third on the team, and he was in the top five of three-point field goals made per contest (1.6).
His .660 three-point attempt rate this year was the highest of his career, which goes to show that he can absolutely continue to embrace a role in being used heavily as a veteran sharpshooter.
The Clippers were one of the best shooting teams in history this year. They don’t have a ton of free agents, so they’ll probably take on that identity next year.
Batum is somebody who has been that player for many years before, and still is that player.
The Clippers have many guys to consider re-signing this offseason, and Nic Batum should be near the top of their priorities.
