LA Clippers: Three threats on the Mavericks that Clips will face
By Evan Desai
With the NBA Playoffs starting up soon, the LA Clippers will be preparing all week for their first round matchup vs. the Dallas Mavericks.
The Mavericks are a good team with an interesting roster filled with potential. While the Mavericks are working with plenty, there are three threats in particular that I’ll be looking out for.
The first is a guy who the entire NBA will be watching in the first round of the series: Superstar guard Luka Doncic.
Doncic, the 2019-20 First-Team All-NBA selection, earns his reputation as one of the best players in this league.
He leads his team in points per game (27.7), assists per game (8.6), and is tied for the team lead with 1 steal per game.
A two-time NBA All-Star, Doncic is one of only eight players to have collected over 2,000 points, 500 boards, and 300 assists before turning 21 years old.
A very well-rounded athlete who can do it all, Doncic also averaged 8 boards a game this year. He made 35% of his three-point shots.
From his game-winning buzzer beater three-point shot in Game 4, to his beautiful 31 points/9.8 rebounds/8.7 assists stat line he recorded, he’s someone who meant everything to his team in the six game series against the Clippers in the playoffs last year.
Putting up those types of performances and coming up short of winning stings. There’s no shot that the 22-year-old doesn’t have revenge on his mind.
He also had to do a lot on his own in that series, as one of the other top threats from the Mavericks was hurt for the last three contests in the playoff round last year.
