2. LA Clippers NBA Draft Prospect: Ayo Dosunmu, Guard, Illinois

Ayo Dosunmu might be a little bit of a stretch. The mock drafts I have looked at have him anywhere from the late teens to the mid-twenties. Needless to say, he could in theory drop to the LA Clippers, in which case they should absolutely consider him.

A three-year college player, Dosunmu comes in a bit more ready to play. This past season at Illinois, he was excellent and his skill should translate to the league. His stats:

  • 20.1 points per game
  • 48.8 FG%, 39 3P%
  • 6.3 rebounds
  • 5.3 assists
  • 1.1 steals

He won the Bob Cousy Award, the top honor for a point guard in college basketball. After he had been knocked for being somewhat inconsistent in his first two years at Illinois, this was the ultimate bounce-back year. Still, those same inconsistencies are the reason his position in this draft is so unpredictable.

I might be crazy but having him learn under Paul George might be the perfect situation. He’s a little shorter than PG, standing 6’5″ but given that he’s a capable scorer from all levels, he could pick up little things from George and develop into a very good rotational piece for this team.

Sure, the Clippers currently have a logjam of guards even if they move on from one or two this season but Dosunmu might be worth taking regardless if he is able to fall to them by some chance.
