With a little more than 24 hours remaining before the NBA trade deadline, we are seeing more and more rumors pop up in regards to the LA Clippers.
It’s no secret that the team is in search of a piece that will help them improve with the point guard seemingly being the main target. In order to fill that role (and possibly more), it seems they may have found another team to work with.
The LA Clippers seemingly see the Indiana Pacers as a potential trade partner.
The first we heard of this was last week when it was mentioned that the team had a potential interest in center Myles Turner. The report came from an Indianapolis Star reporter, giving it some legitimacy but given that it did not come from the Clippers’ side, it’s hard to say if there is real truth.
The salary of Turner makes any move for him more than difficult and would require sending out multiple key rotation members and likely involve a third team. Turner would be an odd addition and while is a better player than Zubac, trading for him would be an odd move.
The next rumor came in the form of former Rookie of the Year, Malcolm Brogdon. This report came via Yahoo Sports who noted he was just one of the many guards the Clippers have been making inquiries about. Much like Turner, Brogdon’s salary makes the deal extremely difficult.
He would be a welcome addition and does fit the needs of this team but getting enough together for him is a tall order.
The final, and most recent, Pacer linked to the LA Clippers is guard Aaron Holiday. This comes via Hoops Rumors. Holiday is the most realistic target of the three mentioned salary-wise but doesn’t seem to be a real upgrade to this roster, especially given that he has fallen out of the Pacers’ rotation.
The Pacers could be feeding information to reporters to try and raise the asking price for their players. Having the Clips linked to multiple players, especially two who are likely out of their price range, is a bit odd. Regardless, we know the LA Clippers will likely make a move sometime soon so we will just have to continue to wait and speculate.
