Trade rumors will continue to ramp up, especially for contenders like the LA Clippers. Many feel that the team needs to make some sort of upgrade at the guard position but the team seems pretty set on their roster.

Could Tomas Satoransky be someone the LA Clippers add before the deadline?

This isn’t a full-fledged rumor but Tomas Satoransky was mentioned by name in a recent article by Jonathan Tjarks on The Ringer. It’s a brief mention in an article otherwise positive article about the LA Clippers potentially being a potential juggernaut come postseason.

A lot has been made about the Clippers’ guard struggles, especially in the clutch when many believe the team needs a playmaker.

The Bulls could be willing to move Satoransky who is making $10 million this year and next. At 6’7″, he would give the Clippers more size on the wing. His stats won’t blow you away but he has been solid over his career with averages of 7.4 points on 47.3% shooting (37.6% from deep), 4.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game in five seasons.

On paper, Sato is the type of player that would be a marginal improvement for this team. However, given his $10 million salary, things become tricky for the Clips.

When it comes to salary, a deal straight up for Patrick Beverley works. The Clippers would likely have to add in some of their second-round picks to get the deal done. Does that really make the team better?

Satoransky would probably be a bit better at playmaking and obviously, the size helps but risking messing up the current locker room by removing Beverley doesn’t really seem worth it. Even worse would be the loss of Beverley’s defense. The Clips would be forced to play Paul George or Satoransky against smaller, quicker guards which could cause issues.

This suggestion isn’t as improbable as something like the Kyle Lowry rumors but also seems tough given the circumstances. The Clippers likely have something up their sleeves but given how this front office operates, we’ll likely all get surprised at the same time.
