The first half of the 2020-2021 NBA season has been a chaotic session of up-and-down performances for the LA Clippers (24-14), who entered into the 2021 NBA All-Star Break with the sixth-best record in the league (.632%). Small forward Kawhi Leonard is once again an all-star selection and shooting guard/small forward Paul George is an all-star selection for the first-time as a Clipper.

Even though there have been solid performances, there are some legitimate questions on the LA Clippers through the first 38 games of this season. The most disappointing aspect of their status as an elite team this season is their performance in clutch time. There are other glaring holes on their team that could potentially be addressed before the NBA Trade Deadline ends.

There isn’t a clear solution on of a player from another team that might potentially fix the problem for the LA Clippers. It will be even more difficult to find someone in this trade deadline to make an impact than last year. The notion of a trade, however, cannot be dismissed as the Clippers have been suffering from highly disappointing losses. They are currently on a three-game losing streak as well as losing six of their last nine games.

The LA Clippers need to make a trade at the deadline this year

National media and casual fans of the NBA would indicate that the LA Clippers need to make a serious move at the point guard position. While the Clippers lack a traditional starting point guard, the Clippers have more established situations on their team. One of which ia a lack of more effective playmakers in clutch time or having a consistent young offensive-minded guard.

Some fans might not be open to the idea of trade mostly due to the reasoning for the trade. The LA Clippers and their front office can’t be dismissive of the idea of a trade especially if it will help them win in clutch time. More importantly, if it is a move the Clippers need to make to help them get to the Western Conference Finals, it will be a difficult but necessary move.
