LA Clippers 5 Most Interesting Games #1: Home vs. Philadelphia, March 27

What is there not to be excited about when the LA Clippers play the Philadelphia 76ers in March?? This game has absolutely everything. Just for starters, it’s the return of Doc Rivers to Staples Center.

Full preface here that I will accept no slander towards Doc Rivers the person. Absolutely none. However, it’s not a stretch to say that most fans of the LA Clippers were in agreement that it was time to make a change, and we couldn’t be much happier with Ty Lue. To have Doc immediately bring a Finals contender back to LA to face us? That’s the highest of high drama.

That’s not the only intrigue, though. There’s the MVP candidate vs. MVP candidate angle with Kawhi Leonard leading the LA Clippers against Joel Embiid. If those two are still among the top players fighting for the award, the head to head matchup will be huge.

Not satisfied with the return of our former coach and the battle of MVP candidates? How about this being the first game after the trade deadline? If the LA Clippers make a move, this will be the first time we’re seeing it.

Still not enough? This game also has the 76ers, who are the best team in the league at defending corner threes, taking on the LA Clippers, who are the best team in the league at shooting corner threes. The 76ers have the 6th fastest pace, while the LA Clippers have the 6th slowest. The 76ers have the fifth best defensive rating, while the LA Clippers have the 3rd best offensive rating.

It’s a meeting of one of the absolute best offensive teams in the league versus one of the absolute best defensive teams. Everything the 76ers do well on defense, the LA Clippers excel at on offense. Who wins that matchup?
