The LA Clippers went 4-0 this past week. How far did they rise in power rankings?

Well, that was a pretty great week. The LA Clippers went 4-0 this past week with two huge blowouts. After slipping in power rankings a bit last week, how far did this team rise after going undefeated?

ESPN Power Rankings: LA Clippers #2

ESPN didn’t have the Clippers moving, as they actually had them in the second spot last week. No, they did not dethrone the Lakers just yet but it may be coming. ESPN even notes that themselves, finishing their weekly review of the team with “Ty Lue’s team still hasn’t reached full potential.”

Bleacher Report Power Rankings: LA Clippers #4

Somehow after a perfect week, the LA Clippers dropped from the third spot to the fourth spot on Bleacher Report. The reasoning?

Brooklyn’s big jump.

Bleacher Report is (understandably) excited about the Nets’ acquisition of James Harden and therefore catapulted them up to the third spot. While ultimately Brooklyn might be a top-tier team, bumping them up five spots after just one game from James Harden seems a little premature.

CBS Sports Power Rankings: LA Clippers #2

Just like ESPN, CBS Sports has the LA Clippers in the second spot behind the Los Angeles Lakers. After dropping them all the way to the ninth spot last week for their loss to the Golden State Warriors, the Clips were rewarded for being perfect.

(Side note: We better see the same for the Lakers following Monday’s loss to Golden State).

While that fall from grace wasn’t expected last week, it’s good to see that CBS corrected themselves and put the Clips back in a top spot.

NBA.com Power Rankings: LA Clippers #3

The Clippers rose on NBA.com as well, shooting up from number six to number three. Let’s look at their stats:

"The Clippers are on fi-yah, having shot better than 50% from 3-point range over their four-game winning streak. Six different Clips have made at least six 3-pointers and 71 of their 75 3-pointers have been assisted over the four games, with Paul George accounting for all four of the unassisted bombs"

That kind of shooting is probably not sustainable across a whole season but while it’s still going strong, the Clippers are a very tough team to beat.

Next. Clippers should pass on Kevin Porter Jr. despite the fit. dark
