3. What to watch for from the LA Clippers: Three point shooting

Today, we get the age-old question of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?

The LA Clippers are on pace to shoot a franchise-record number of three pointers even taking into account that this is a shorter season. On top of just shooting more, the Clippers are also converting on a very high percentage – 39.4% per game.

That mark makes them the 4th best in the league from a percentage standpoint. Tonight, however, they’ll get the hardest test yet in the Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix is third in the league in opponent three point percentage. That is to say, they don’t let their opponents convert from deep. Through six games, the Suns’ opponents are making just 30% of their 28.3 attempts per game. Furthermore, they’re limiting teams from the corner, the easiest three pointer in the game.

The Suns are allowing opponents to shoot just 28.6% from the corner and are allowing the third-fewest attempts from that spot. With 38% of the Clippers’ offense coming from three point land, whoever wins this battle will likely also win the game. This will be quite a test for Ty Lue’s offense and hopefully we see something promising.
