Christmas is upon us this unusual and tough 2020. The LA Clippers have their own grinch wanting to spoil their Christmas.

Despite Christmas cheer caroling around, there are still grinches that want to make their loud and ignorant voices heard as the new NBA season tipped off a few days ago. No matter how the LA Clippers are looking, ESPN’s NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins will always be their grinch.

Since becoming an NBA analyst, Perkins has delivered some hot steaming takes for ESPN and on Twitter on his unusual secret hatred for the Clippers. It is no secret that Perkins is a supporter of LeBron James in an almost creepy way, but that same love for James can also be traced to his desire to slam the Clippers at any moment’s notice.

The Clippers are a team that takes relentless heat especially after blowing another 3-1 series lead in the past NBA Playoffs in the second round to the Nuggets. Perkins is a personality that is often at the frontlines for the anti-Clippers banter. It appears those feelings haven’t changed from the offseason.

Perkins has delivered constant criticism to six-time NBA All-Star shooting guard/small forward Paul George during his struggles in the playoffs and during the offseason. His inconsistent performance in the NBA Playoff Bubble was significant and highly criticized by many but Perkins is a persistent grinch.

Throughout the offseason, Perkins was not willing to let up on the actions that the Clippers’ organization had to take to ensure they would go deeper into the playoffs. Perkins apparently caught on to the fact that the departure of Montrezl Harrell was just a clumsy mistake rather than a much-needed move. Perkins will remember the reigning Sixth Man of the Year award recipient but not the numerous problems that he caused in the locker room during the regular and postseason.

He did take serious measures to call out the extension of shooting guard Luke Kennard for a four-year, $64 million deal. This should be quite clear that the ESPN NBA analyst really doesn’t understand the dynamics of the team but rather just the name. Clipper fans know that this is a team that can be easy to pick on because of multiple underwhelming playoff performances and being in the same city as the Los Angeles Lakers. That doesn’t mean we, as Clipper Nation and NBA fans overall, can’t smell the bullcrap that Perkins delivers on ESPN or on his Twitter.

For the most part, Perkins delivers some solid analysis on ESPN shows such as The Jump, Get Up, or First Take. When faced with news or analysis that is unbiased, he is usually right. More times than often, Perkins will deliver some takes that are not only biased but more personal. It is not just about the Clippers at times.

Whenever there are heavy challengers to the Lakers’ title run, specifically LeBron’s run, Perkins will attempt to downgrade their significance. Perkins has been incorrect and biased against Milwaukee Bucks power forward and two-time consecutive NBA All-Defensive First Team selection Giannis Antetokounmpo.

No matter what the situation is revolving around the Clippers, the analyst will attempt to dive into the topic of the “dysfunctional” team and discredit any sign of progress. Perkins called for the Clippers to sign current free agent point guard Isaiah Thomas as the Clippers “didn’t make any progress during the free agency” in his words. This post was a day after the Clippers signed power forward/center Serge Ibaka for two-years, $18 million.

The day of the first game of the new regular season, the analyst had them not in the top-five. Before then, on December 7th, Perkins listed them as the tenth best team in the NBA on his Twitter page.

It is obvious that nothing the team does on the court or in the locker room will change the mind of this disgruntled analyst, who has garlic in his soul. Perkins will use words such as stink, stank, stunk but his takes offer nothing to this team as they chase for their first Western Conference Finals and NBA Finals appearance in franchise history.
