2. LA Clippers Christmas List: Chemistry

The second thing on the Clippers’ wishlist should be chemistry. The team’s issues with coming together last season were well documented and are still being talked about even as this season has started. Supposedly the main culprits who centered around the issues (Montrezl Harrell and Doc Rivers) are now gone but the Clips could still use some work.

The locker room should be a lot calmer with those two gone. The players seem very responsive to Ty Lue so far and have all had the same message about focusing on this year alone. Additions like Serge Ibaka and Nicolas Batum also bring a more calming, veteran precense to the team.

The chemistry issue last year was also in part to a lack of practice time. The team cancelled practice often, giving the guys less time on the court together. WIth an ever changing rotation thanks to all the injuries (see the last slide), there never was a sense of cohesivness.

The team also made a couple of late additions bringing in Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson at the trade deadline. The Clips might not make as big of additions during this season but even if they do, they need to hope they still are able to integrate any new guys with enough time.

I know Clipper Nation hates to hear it but the Lakers of last season are what the Clips should strive to be. That team’s love for each other was very apparent, something that obviously helped in the bubble. Nothing wrong with the Clippers wanting that.
