LA Clippers: Reggie Jackson Preview – Things to Do Better

Oh, where to start.

I mentioned in the last slide that decision-making in the fast break is something that Reggie Jackson has to work on but it’s more than that. Reggie just needs to make better decisions at every level.

Jackson will at times seem like he believes he’s the best player on the court and will get shot happy. He, along with head coach Ty Lue, need to work to reign that in. Really, it all comes down to Reggie having a defined role and playing within the limits of that.

On the defensive end, we all know the struggles Jackson faces. Honestly, he’s just not good. We all remember Luka Doncic’s buzzer-beater in the first round over the outstretched arms of Jackson. That could have been avoided had Doc Rivers not had one of his worst defenders in the game but that’s neither here nor there.

Reggie just needs to try harder on defense. He cannot overcome his physical limitations and that’s fine but the effort absolutely has to be there. With Lue making the decisions now, fans have to be pleased that come postseason, we will see less of Reggie during key minutes. Still, with him partnered with both Kennard and Williams off the bench, opposing guards won’t face a ton of adversity.

Hopefully having Serge Ibaka and Nicolas Batum backing them will help but the effort has to be there from the jump.
